Preston have issued a statement to say that the best ever player to wear the North End shirt Sir Tom Finney, has died aged 91.

Finney made 433 appearances for his home town club whilst netting 187 goals.

For England, he represented his country 76 times and scored 30 goals in the process.

Sir Tom will never be forgotten by everyone linked with Preston North End, with the Sir Tom Finney stand at Deepdale and the coloured picture by the entrance.

No doubt there will be an applause or some sort before and during the game tomorrow at Deepdale against Leyton Orient.

Thoughts with his family.

    Hi,

I’m a Spurs fan and I just want to say how sorry I am to hear of the passing of the great man Sir Tom Finney. Great man, great player – one of the greatest ever. Legend is used to much these days but with Sir Tom it actally feels right to call him Legend. This morning I actually feel quite emotional – says it all about this great man. So sad.

God bless. Thinking of his family and the fans of Preston.
