Preston revamp on the cards

An ‘overhaul’ at Preston this summer is likely if Graham Westley gets his way.

The Preston manager, who arrived from Stevenage in January, wasn’t happy with the squad that he inherited and has made several changes to it since – more are planned in the summer.

Westley, as he told the official website, knows that there is still a ‘split in the camp’ so is looking to address this in the summer moving on anyone that doesn’t want to be at the club: ‘when you have got a new regime coming in people do react and, let’s face it, this isn’t a winning camp – it was a camp that was posting poor results.

‘Change was needed and you would expect that the entire squad would relish a change which would demand them to get physically stronger (and) fitter.

‘I have listened to the lads saying they are getting fitter and stronger and I don’t understand why anybody would want to react against that, but there are players that do. When you have got that sort of split in the camp then you are working towards a summer where you can change that around, where people who don’t want to be a part of it can move on.’

An interesting summer seems likely at Deepdale!
