Big striker Andy Carroll has joined Preston on a five month temporary loan deal. Carroll has joined until the 1st of January and may make his debut tonight against Morecambe in the Carling cup. Carroll has joined from Newcastle and Big Sam recommended his former club Preston to the striker.
The 18 year old has had limited opportunities at St.James` Park. He has made only seven appearances but scored against European giants Juventus. He also received plaudits from Gianluigi Buffon. However the player wants to play games and score goals and believes he has made the right choice by moving to Deepdale for 5 months.
Preston fought of competition from Celtic and 5 other clubs to the signing and Simpson was more than delighted with the capture. “He`s a young player who has got bags and bags of potential. He should be a good foil for the others”
Preston fans have been longing for a striker and this is good move for the club. Simpson also stated he wanted a target man, and with Carroll standing at 6 foot 4 he is more than capable of filling this role.
