After the game on Saturday between Preston North End and Norwich City, PNE vital gathered the views of affected people.

Preston manager Paul Simpson: Content with the performance but felt his side was unlucky not to get a goal. He was happy with the new boys and Youl Mawene who was a rock at the back. However Simpson would still like to bring a new striker in after failing to score despite dominating.

Preston fans: All the hype over the new season slowly disappeared as the only goalless game of the Championship was witnessed at Deepdale for the second year running. However there are many positives to take from the game, the main one Kevin Nicholls, with an inspirational performance.

Obviously the strike force still needs to be strengthened but the rest of the team played well. Norwich seemed to fare ok but missed Huckerby and Cureton, once they return they could pose problems for defences. As soon as we get a new striker we should be able to bury games that we deserve to.

Norwich fans: It had been a pretty awful week for the club. We lost out on a few transfer targets. Also, despite being chuffed we kept a pretty full squad sit during preseason, we had the bbq fiasco which ruled out Cureton and completely disrupted the week`s preparations.

So all being considered, we would take a point. Also as we conceded an average of two goals every away game last season, a clean sheet was the most welcome. We`ll get better.

I think us and Preston seem in a similar boat. We need some cutting edge up front, and your midfield seemed to tick. Mawene was your best player, and it was a fairly even game – although Preston had the better of it.

There were some freaky results on Saturday but as games go by, we`ll both take this on I`m sure. Both sides should be able to threaten the top six over the season.

Thanks to Norwich fan, Michael.
