Preston North End are to complete the signing of Jason Jarrett on loan.

The former Wigan Atheletic midfielder is due to sign until the end of the season, with a view to a permanant move in the summer, according to the North End website.

The 26-year-old is enthusiastic about joining the club and hopes to live up to his ‘box-to-box player’ credentials.

He said: ‘I’ve seen a little bit of the team and from what I’ve seen they are a good passing team with a lot of strengths. They play good football.

‘I hope it’s the type of football that suits me. I think it will be,’ he added.

The signing further strengthens North End’s engine-room and brings an end to Jarrett’s unhappy time at Norwich City, which saw Nigel Worthington pick him just nine times.

Jarrett started his career at Blackpool before moving on to Wrexham and Bury and then to Wigan for £75,000 in 2002. A loan spell at Stoke was followed by a free transfer to Norwich City. He has since enjoyed a successful loan spell at Plymouth. Indeed, some Pilgrims fans thought that the energetic midfielder was to rejoin them on loan.

The deal is set to be finalised on Monday.
