Nugent, the only Championship player in the squad has been on stand by over the weekend after McClaren declared an interest in him. However after an injury to Darren Bent, Nugent has now been moved from the U21`s to the senior squad, meaning he will miss out on the first game at Wembley.

Nugent has scored fourteen goals in the league this season including one at the weekend against Burnley, and ever since his move from Bury 2 years ago he has been attracting Premiership attention. Finally his break has come and his price tag is set to soar before the summer transfer window. The striker is almost certain to be playing in the Premiership next season whether with Preston or not but he is definitely not short of potential suitors.

Nugent may not feature against Israel but is more than likely to face a weak Andorra side in the Nou Camp next week. He will be the first player outside the top flight to feature for over ten years and the first Preston player in the England squad for almost fifty years. Sir Tom Finney being the last to don both the famous white shirts.
