Firstly it was announced today that central defender Youl Mawene has picked up his training after injury and he is now joining in with everything. Gaffer Paul Simpson is delighted with the news despite just signing two new central defenders, and his two starting centre backs playing well.

One of those centre backs was included in this weeks Championship team of the week. Rookie Kelvin Wilson won the acclaim of the judges and was joined by fellow defender and Preston captain Graham Alexander. David Nugent also did enough to earn a place in the team, playing up front after his two goals against Sheffield Wednesday.

Nugent, who also won PNE fans player of the month, has today said that he is committed to getting Preston to the Premiership. He said he never thought of leaving and the news of Premiership clubs watching him has spurred him on to create better performances.
