PNE vital catch up with all the Championship action over the last week.

Saturday saw the first games of the season for all the clubs. Wolves vs. Watford was a late kick off to compensate sky`s coverage.

Here are the results:

Barnsley 1 – 4 Coventry
Bristol C 2 – 2 QPR
Burnley 2 – 1 West Brom
Cardiff 0 – 1 Stoke

Barnsley got off to the completely wrong start after a 4-1 home trashing to Coventry, who are tipped to do well this season. New boys Bristol city could only draw with QPR, which could be a 6 pointer at the end of the year. Burnley caused an upset, beating hot favourites West Brom thanks to goals from Andy Gray. Stoke were fortunate to win at Cardiff, saving a late penalty in the process. Scunthorpe shocked many by grabbing a point at the Valley despite losing their best player and given the tag of favourites to go down. Plymouth won a 5 goal thriller away at Hull after conceding first. Ipswich started brightly and crushed Sheffield Wednesday 4-1. Blackpool caused a massive shock, grabbing a controversial victory at Leicester. Preston and Norwich played out the only 0-0 draw in the division in a dull encounter. Sheffield united and Colchester drew 2-2 in a thriller whilst Palace did well to win 4-1 at Southampton thanks to a hat-trick from James Scowcroft. Watford got a dramatic winner late on at Molineux scoring 2 in the last 10 minutes.

Tonight there are many league cup clashes with most Championship outfits expected to progress. Last night Southampton crashed out to Peterborough, losing 2-1 away at London road.

Last night, Southampton manager also declared how close Southampton came to administration this season. With the transfer window still open, most managers are still in the hunt for players to bolster their squads and make an impact.
