Preston North End’s David Nugent, who could make his first senior England appearance on Wednesday against Andorra, has climbed to sixth position overall in The Actim Index – the Official Player Ratings of the Coca-Cola Championship.

Nugent, an England Under-21 regular, has amassed a total Actim Index score of 550 points in 36 Championship appearances. He has scored 14 times for the Lilywhites this season and created five more, hitting 87 shots at goal. His overall play has seen Nugent make 58 dribbles, 45 crosses, 381 passes and win 35 tackles – proving that, in addition to his strike rate, he would also give McClaren plenty of options outside the box.

The North End striker, who has also scored three goals in nine appearances for the England under 21`s, could be the first Preston North End player to turn out for the national team since Sir Tom Finney in 1959. This would also make Nugent the first outfield player from an English division below the Premier League to play for England since Sunderland’s Michael Gray in 1999.

Birmingham City`s Gary McSheffrey currently leads the Championship Actim Index with a score of 673.

The Actim Index ranks players using Actim Stats according to their performance, both by position and overall.
