Since the draw this afternoon, Preston`s chairman, manager and one of their players have given their view on the tie.

Man City fan Danny Pugh was ecstatic after the draw was announced. The former Man United player was “buzzing” after he found out the blue half of Manchester were coming to Preston. The newly central midfielder hopes the tie will be on T.V and it was definitely his first choice of ties.

Manager Paul Simpson, a former blue himself, wanted Man City at home and he got just what he wanted. Simpson`s son is a city supporter and he will relish the chance to get one over his dad. Simpson also wants the game on T.V and reckons it has a strong possibility of being so. ‘We can look forward to it with excitement, knowing it is going to be a tough game, but a really exciting one for our supporters.”

Finally, chairman Derek Shaw has expressed his view on the tie. He thinks it is really good. A home tie, against a premiership team, that is a winnable game. He is confident that Deepdale will be sold out but concedes that Man City will have to have the whole kop.

Preston versus city has produced some good games in recent years with Preston winning a televised game on ITV with Macken scoring a long range effort.
