Footballer = a role model to overly enthustatic elderly men and an ambassador to the young ambitious footballers.

Its the time of the year when fans get their chance to slate or rate a footballers performances. Football ceremonies can be either like a ego driven crash site or a sulking 28 year olds dreams. However, this year was different. Andrew Lonergan received the Fans player of the year. The goalkeeper has been the backbone to Preston’s success, in previous years. Having grown up in Preston, he knows the proud feeling every Preston fan allocates when the team are playing towards their standards. When success is not there, the stance changes and aggression takes threshold. The proudness is always evident in Preston fans.

Other awards were handed out to Neil Mellor: club community icon, George Miller: Club scholar of the year, and Ross Wallace: awarded best goal of the season when he scored a free-kick against rivals Blackpool, in November.
