Preston North End have been granted permission to turn the oldest football site (still being used) in this country into a 24`000+ all seater state of the art stadium.

Central Lancashire Primary Care Trust (PCT) and Deepdale football bosses discussed the issues at a meeting this week.

Along with the completion of the 4th stand which will provide corporate boxes, Press rooms and executive lounges, there will be a long term conditions centre. The centre is there as part of the multi million pound deal which funds the completion of the stadium. “We are delighted with the news. We have been working on this project for some time and we can now complete the stadium.” Chairman Derek Shaw shows his delight on the issue.

The news of the stadium will boost the clubs promotion bid and will show other teams what Preston are all about. With their ambition and desire to get into the top flight. Now Deepdale can officially become a fortress with all 4 sides having been rejuvenated.

Work on the East stand will start soon and it is expected to be completed during the 07/08 season. The health centre will bring health services and clinics together which have historically been located across Preston, in a single purpose built state-of-the-art facility. The Centre will include: podiatry (foot care), retinal screening for eyes, taking blood, diabetes care, nutritional advice, respiratory care, coronary heart care and treatment reviews for all the public.
