Preston have taken Blackburn striker Jemal Johnson on loan for a month.

Billy Davies has brought in the 20 year old as further cover following Cresswell’s move to Leeds and the illness to David Nugent. He is expected to go straight into the squad to play Leicester at the weekend.

Davies told the official site: ‘We’ve been very much aware of the young lad. He’s very bright, very quick, he’s now been given this opportunity and we’re hoping he can come in and score goals, which is one thing he can do.’

Adding: ‘He’s got the ability and he’s very lively. We’re now hoping he can go and do the business.’

Jemal said: ‘I want to get people talking about me and let people know what I can do. I want to come here and do well and hopefully pave my way for something even better. I’ll keep working hard and obviously things will pay off for me. I’ve got pace, a good touch, I’m skilful and I work hard. There’s a lot of competition at Blackburn, there’s about six strikers, a few of them have gone out on loan but there is still five left. Obviously Craig Bellamy and Shefki Kuqi are the newcomers and they have come in in the first team.’

Jemal is also looking forward to playing alongside David Nugent when he recovers from his virus: ‘I have heard a lot about him. I have got a lot of respect for him, he’s doing well for himself. He’s young just the same as me and he’s doing really well, it seems like he has got a lot of pace and he would be good to play with.’
