The versatile Scotland international, missed the victory over Stoke after picking up an injury in training. Before that game, he had played the last three. Preston aren`t sure how long the player will be out for but it is expected to be longer than first expected. Meanwhile Mellor and Chris Neal are only a weeks away from returning to action but keeper Carlo Nash has a slight hamstring injury. However, Nash is expected to play at the weekend. Nash has also bee subject of a bid from Fulham for a nominal fee. The club have refused to comment on the situation and have already tabled a new contract offer for the player.
