Brett Ormerod`s brace and overall performance in Preston North End`s 4-0 victory over Coventry City last weekend has seen the 30-year-old striker record the highest individual score of the week in The Actim Index – the Official Player Ratings of the Coca-Cola Championship.
Ormerod, who helped Preston end a run of four straight defeats, recorded 54 Index points during the match and is currently ranked 158th overall. Actim Stats reveal that the former Southampton star has scored eight goals in 1,331 minutes on the pitch, contributing 26 shots at goal, 32 tackles, two clearances, six interceptions, 21 dribbles, 17 crosses, 157 passes and five assists.
Graham Alexander, who is currently the highest-ranked defender in the league, remains the Lilywhites` highest player in 4th position overall. The 35-year-old club captain has an Index score of 609 and lies 81 points behind current leader, Birmingham`s Gary McSheffrey.
The Actim Index is calculated using a unique mathematical formula that rates each player`s contribution be it goals, shots, passes, dribbles, tackles, crosses, saves, clearances, blocks, interceptions, time on the pitch or number of points gained by the team with marks deducted for red and yellow cards. Two additional calculations, which take account of player assists and goalkeeper`s clean sheets, have been added for the new season to increase the amount of variables a player is now measured by.
