Coventry continued their amazing start under Iain Dowie with a win over play off hopefuls, Wolves. Derby slipped up at home to QPR, in a game where the visitors earned a valuable point. Leeds also got a valuable away point at Leicester whilst Hull got 3 priceless away points at fellow relegation candidates Luton. Norwich stunned the Championship by beating Birmingham 1-0 at home. Preston were the only team in the top 8 to win after a slip up against Hull at the weekend. Wednesday beat Colchester in a mid table clash and the top of the table clash dramatically ended 2-2 at St.Marys after Southampton went 2-0 up. Southend won another game to enhance their survival chances and Stoke held Sunderland on the sky cameras.

Plymouth 2 – 4 Barnsley
West Brom 2 – 3 C Palace

There were two shocks on Wednesday night as both the home teams lost. Plymouth-Barnsley was a nothing game but West Brom did nothing to boast their chances after most the top 8 slipped up on Tuesday.

On Friday, Southampton met a banana skin after losing to Colchester at home. It saw them slide further away from the top 6 and it is now hard for them even to get the play offs.

Southampton 2 – 1 Colchester

Leicester 1 – 3 QPR

Norwich 1 – 0 Stoke
Plymouth 1 – 0 C Palace
Preston 2 – 0 Burnley
Sheff Wed 2 – 2 Wolves

Coventry once again recorded a marvellous home victory and Derby moved to the top of the table after beating fellow promotion hopefuls Cardiff 3-1. QPR gained 3 valuable points away at Leicester and Luton continued to slide after falling at home to Ipswich following the sacking of Mike Newell. Norwich once again won at Carrow road which is fastly turning into a fortress. In the mid table clash, Plymouth came out on top at Home Park. In the early kick off, Preston won the Lancashire derby 2-0, meaning Burnley failed to record a win for the 18th successive game. Sheff Wed did well to hold Wolves at home whilst Leeds kept up with Southend after a late goal in the relegation 6 pointer. Sunderland resoundingly beat Hull at the Stadium of light.
