Monday saw the opening fixtures for 2007. Birmingham remained top despite losing. Derby beat Preston to climb above them into 2nd place, meaning the top two Championship sides from 2006 both lost on the opening day of 2007. The results are as follows:

The game at Burnley was postponed due to the bad conditions at Turf moor. The results meant the table looked like this:

Therfore only 7 Championship teams are guaranteed to be in the fourth round but the final figure could be 19 depending on the results of the replays and the postponed matches.
