Preston’s Championship season continued with a three-one defeat to Huddersfield at the John Smith’s Stadium on Boxing Day.

It wasn’t a good day for Preston on Saturday as Nahki Wells gave Huddersfield a first half lead with Wells scoring again early in the second half with Emyr Huws grabbing the third late on, with an injury-time goal scored by Adam Reach way too late by then for PNE.

These were the other results.

With leaders Middlesbrough seeing their game at Blackburn postponed this opened the door to Derby, who in winning two-nil against Fulham moved to the top of the Championship table.

Bolton’s troubles continued with them hammered by fellow strugglers Rotherham (who made it back-to-back wins) four-nil with Cardiff losing more ground on the play-off places with a defeat at MK Dons, who eased their troubles slightly as the year moves closer to an end.
